My name is Leigh-Anne, and I am a stay-at-home mom of two beautiful children - a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old . I have lived in Texas for most of my life, but we won't talk about the years I lived elsewhere, otherwise known as 'The Dark Ages, Part II.' I go to One Chapel in Kyle, where we have an awesome community full of people who genuinely care about each other.
I have always loved learning new things, and learning to make granola was no exception. My husband Abe has a lot of recently discovered dietary limitations, and among other things, he is not able to eat gluten. Unfortunately, most granolas at the grocery store, while made with oats, still have wheat listed in the ingredients in some capacity. Since our local supermarket has a nice bulk section, I decided that it would be fun to make some granola from scratch, using all ingredients that Abe could eat. I was right - it was fun, and I thought "I could do this all the time and sell it to people!"
The next day, I spent hours working on granola recipes, flavor name ideas, company name ideas, etc. I texted a friend and told her that I was thinking of starting my own business. She said, "I'm guessing you make granola a lot?" I sheepishly replied, "I... have made it once... and that was last night." But when I get excited about a project, I can't stop thinking about it and I will spend hours researching and planning.
I spent the next several days compiling my recipe ideas and experimenting with making them, then deciding names for all of them. It was really fun and exciting, but a lot of work. Once I had all of that figured out, I made a batch of each recipe to take to a friend's game night for people to taste test. I was so happy when people loved it! That made me really excited to get a business going because I would be doing something that makes people happy, while also doing something that I enjoy.
I am excited to see where this venture takes me and what I can accomplish, and I love hearing how happy it makes other people to be involved, whether it's through helping me decide new flavors or names or even just through placing their first order. It has been a great way to connect with people and to bring joy to their lives.
